It is the mission of the FBA to promote the uniquely American tradition of barbecuing meat over natural wood or charcoal-fired heat and smoke through education, family-friendly fellowship, and competition.

FBA Board of Directors

The time has come when we will be accepting nominations for the 2021 Board of Directors. Nominations open on October 1st, 2020 and will close October 31st, 2020. You can nominate yourself or someone else, but please get their permission first. Each nominee will need to submit a paragraph or two outlining their goals and qualifications along with a photo to be posted to our website. All nominations should be sent to the Secretary, Jim Douglas, jimdouglasllc@gmail.com, before October 31st, 2020.

Sample ballots will be available to all members by November 3rd, 2020. Voting will be done online thru a link that will be sent to each member. Actual voting will take place December 1st, 2020 thru December 10th, 2020 and results will be announced no later than December 14th, 2020.

Positions to be elected for a two year term are: Vice-President, Treasurer, and one Director at Large position. To qualify to run for any position on the Board you must be a member in good standing. Additionally, to run for Vice-President, you must have severed one term as a Board Member.

Now that you know how to run here are some important things to keep in mind:

Being on this board takes dedication. You will have to be able to put your personal feelings for
friends aside and make decisions based solely on what is best for the FBA. You will need to listen to every member and give serious consideration to their opinions. As we have seen in past years, opinions can vary greatly. The key is to be able to find a middle ground that all sides can live with but sometimes you may need to make tough decisions that some will not like. I have found that as long as you are doing what is truly best for the organization most will understand even though they may not agree. There are also those times when you will receive positive feedback from the membership and this will encourage you to continue on doing a great job.

I hope each of you will consider running for a position on our board. We need great people who are willing to make this organization the best it can be.

Finally, if you don’t have time or an interest in running you can still make a difference.

Take time to read about each candidate, ask them questions. Then vote for who you feel is best qualified to lead OUR organization.
